Coatsink is looking for a highly motivated and talented UI/UX Artist to join the team and work closely with our wider Art team.
As a UI/UX Artist at Coatsink, working with the Art Director, you will design, create and implement stunning UX/UI solutions. These designs should be compliant with the game’s design, complement the overall artistic vision of the game, and enrich the player’s feedback and experience. Your work should communicate and enhance the visual impact of important gameplay and provide clarity to real-time interactions.
Role and key responsibilities
- Work closely with the Art Director to create and implement UX/UI solutions for all visual aspects of the game.
- Creation and implementation of real-time UX/UI using wireframing / Photoshop / Illustrator or similar software.
- A strong understanding of player feedback and interaction within a 3D game environment.
- Understanding of world space UI as well as screen based.
- A coherent understanding of artistic style, mood and aesthetic.
- An Artist with a strong balance of artistic and technical skills. They should be confident in the implementation of UX/UI within a real-time game engine environment (Unity or Equivalent).
- Be able to work fast, focusing on idea generation, iteration and respond well to feedback.
- Discussion about, and understanding of, the limitations of the hardware while innovating. and pushing the quality of the player experience.
- Collaboration with FX and 3D Artists to share techniques, assets and ideas.
- Be an active participant in team art discussions, critiques, and reviews.
Skills and main qualifications
Required Experience
- Relevant degree or equivalent education and training
- Familiar with at least one industry standard game engine.
- Good knowledge of Photoshop / Illustrator or equivalent software.
- Able to create dynamic UI elements from scratch.
- Understanding of, and experience working within, technical restraints and budgets.
- Ability to communicate cross-discipline and work closely in small teams.
- A good understanding of player feedback and creating a comprehensive user experience.
- Experience creating UI / UX for video games, compliant with game design and overall artistic vision.
- A great team player with a mind for games and a keen artistic eye.
Preferred/Desirable Experience
- Experience with implementing UI / UX within Unity.
- Proficient in the creation of UI / UX utilising motion graphics and dynamic real-time effects.
- Experience with designing and creating World Space UI.
- Experience with designing and creating UI / UX for use within a VR space.
- Strong eye for composition, form, colour and graphic design.
Required Personal Skills & Approach:
- Ability to interact and communicate across all disciplines and with colleagues effectively.
- Strong problem solving skills.
