Information

Google Cloud provides incredible flexibility when building out a gaming backend. With its slew of open source projects like Agones, Open Match, Quilkin, combined with Google Cloud products like Google Kubernetes Engine, Spanner, Cloud Build, Cloud Deploy and more you can build exactly the backend platform that fits your studio and game. But that also means that there are also a lot of options to choose from! Would you like to see how Google Cloud itself would build out a production, global scale multiplayer game using its own variety of open source projects and hosted products? Then this presentation is for you! In this talk we’ll step you through the architecture of the open source “Global Scale Demo”. We’ll discuss each of the aspects of the project, discuss why each item was chosen for each layer and tradeoffs therein, starting from the Terraform to setup the infrastructure all the way through deploying game services and servers with Continuous Integration and Deployment.
