About Cannons & Sparrows

About Cannons + Sparrows is a Metroidvania puzzler that fuses classic side-scrolling gameplay with fully rendered 3D environments and characters. The narrative unfolds over 4-5 hours of linear, story-driven gameplay supplemented by up to 10 hours of side quests. Inspired by the German saying “to shoot with cannons at sparrows” (or “to crack a nut with a sledgehammer”), the game tells the story of a small cannon - hatched from a bird’s egg - that embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Born into a forest on the brink of destruction, our hero must face constant battles, solve complex puzzles, and evolve through unique movement and fighting skills. By helping frightened forest inhabitants (our skill tree is known as “the fruits of empathy”), players will learn movement mechanics unlike any seen before: speed boosting through caves using cannon pipe recoil, mastering flight with wooden wings, balancing on ropes with tiny wheels, and much more.
