Information

Stop me if you heard this one before. A mandate has been set for the studio to be “AI enabled”. Enterprise grade tools are purchased. Pilot projects are initiated. Working groups are founded. Projections are made of AI’s impact on production in years to come. The sunny uplands loom.
Six months later we’ve found a couple of examples where AI was useful, but it’s been rather anecdotal, inconsistent, and hard to reproduce. Meanwhile staff are frustrated, friction has mounted, costs are increasing, and management are wondering why their studio isn’t achieving this seamless AI integration the broader narrative has promised.
The truth is that AI is neither the root of all our sins, nor the balm for all our ailments, and many studios fail at the first hurdle in understanding where - if at all - this technology is practical. In this talk we dig into five of the most common issues we observe at ‘AI and Games’ when consulting with studios, and how these aspects are reflected in our GameSkills courses running this year.
